  • AJ Slye Memorial Scholarship-Deadline 3/22/2019

Be a graduating senior at Stafford County Public Schools, Spotsylvania County Public Schools or Fredericksburg City Public Schools.  One scholarship will be awarded. Has been immediately impacted by a cancer diagnosis (parent or guardian, sibling or self) Will attend a full-time accredited 4-year college or university in the fall of 2019. (Family Members of the SlyeStrong#6 Foundation Board are not eligible.)

Must apply and be accepted into the American University Distinguished Scholars Program in order to be eligible for this scholarship.  Historically underrepresented minority students and students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply. Breathing Blessings is offering several scholarships to local students. You must have a 2.5+ GPA and received an admissions offer from a college (including community) or trade school. Applicants must submit an essay, short biography, and two letters of recommendation.

This scholarship is offered in memory of Ian and Jalen Brown, a senior and sophomore at Spotsylvania High School. Two awards will be made each year to Spotsylvania High School students and will be renewable each year for four years.

One award will support a college or university-bound student, the other will support a vocational or career/technical student.

Various Scholarships

The Community Foundation manages over 40 different scholarship funds aimed at assisting area young people by advancing education. Last year, over $140,000 was awarded to local students. Transcripts and recommendations are required. Applications will be accepted until March 3, 2019 at 11:00 PM.

  • Elks National Foundation Scholarship-Deadline 2/1/2019

The Elks Foundation is awarding college scholarships to 500 high school seniors nationwide.  To apply, please visit https://www.elks.org/scholars/

Each year scholarships are awarded by the Falmouth High School Alumni Association to deserving graduates.  To be eligible for this scholarship, the applicant must be a DIRECT descendant of a person who attended Falmouth High School between the years of 1931-1956.   Applicants will be chosen by a judging committee of the Falmouth High School Alumni Association.

The Thomas Peterson and Alvin Jenettie Roane Fary Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 1997 by the estate of Thomas Franklin Fary in memory of his parents to help worthy high school students from a rural area obtain a college education. Four scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis to graduating high school seniors from eligible areas. Awards of up to $6,000 each will be available to help cover the costs of tuition, fees, room and board and other required educational expenses. Winners will be notified by late April in order to assist a student’s college decision.

  • Information Security Undergraduate Scholarship

Aspiring information security professionals have the opportunity to ease some of their educational financial burden with the (ISC)² Information Security Undergraduate Scholarship, offering undergraduate students studying information security up to US$5,000 per recipient.

  • John J. Wright Alumni Association-Deadline-4/15/2019

Applicant must be an “active financial member” of the John J. Wright Alumni Association, or the offspring of an “active financial member” of the Alumni Association (offspring may be a biological, step, adopted or foster child or a grandchild). The 2018-2019 Lee-Jackson Educational Foundation Scholarship Program is now available for Virginia public, private, and home high school juniors and seniors.  $42,000 in college scholarships are available for participating students this year.

Eighteen scholarships will be awarded to Virginia high school juniors and seniors submitting outstanding original, analytical essays on any aspect, positive or negative, of the career, character, or legacy of General Robert E. Lee and/or General “Stonewall” Jackson.

Mayfield Civic Association Scholarship-Deadline 4/12/2019

Must be a Mayfield Resident/ Have Family Ties in Mayfield. This scholarship is offered by the Mayfield Civic Association in order to celebrate the contributions of Mr. W.L. Bailey, a local African-American businessman and community activist who championed education for Fredericksburg’s area youth.  The purpose of this award is to recognize and reward academic excellence, civic contributions to the community, and to help students become aware of the historical and charitable contributions of Mr. Bailey.

Questbridge Scholarship Program

Seniors planning an aviation career in a non-engineering area. Scholarship applicants must have an unweighted GPA of at least 3.5.  Acceptance into a non-engineering, aviation-related postsecondary education program is required.  Examples of non-engineering aviation careers include (but are not limited to) pilots, aviation maintenance technicians, aviation managers, etc.  You may view the scholarship on the Virginia Department of Aviation’s website

The Virginia Credit Union Scholarship was established to help members who are working toward their first undergraduate degree.   • Virginia State Golf Association Scholarship-Deadline 2/20/2019

The criteria for the scholarship are based on academic achievement, an interest in golf (skill level not important), character, and financial need.  For more information, please visit www.scholarships.vsga.org.

The Pamplin Scholars Program consists of two scholarships: The Pamplin Leadership Award and the Pamplin Scholar Award . The Pamplin Leadership Award aims to recognize students who have exceled in leadership while in high school; application is open to any senior from among Virginia’s public high schools. No more than 40 qualified students will be awarded each year. The Pamplin Leadership Award is a $5,000 one-year academic, merit-based scholarship. A student awarded the Pamplin Leadership Award is automatically eligible to apply for the Pamplin Scholar Award during her/his first year at Virginia Tech. Only winners of the Pamplin Leadership Award may apply for the Pamplin Scholar Award, which provides full Virginia Tech tuition and fees until graduation provided winners maintain good academic standing in the Honors College.
