THE PURPOSE OF THIS SHRED DAY IS TO RAISE FUNDS FOR THE COLLEGE EDUCATION OF STUDENTS IN THE AREA
In an effort to raise funds for community education, The Betty J. Hunter Scholarship Committee, in partnership with Shred-it, will host a shred day for residents of the city of Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania County, Stafford County, Culpeper County, Caroline County, and King George County, to shred their confidential documents securely.
(Saturday, April, 1st, 2023 – Fredericksburg, VA) – The Betty J. Hunter Scholarship Committee, in partnership with Shred-it, will be hosting a shred day for community residents of the city of Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania County, Stafford County, Culpeper County, Caroline County, and King George County, to shred their confidential documents securely on Saturday, April 1 st from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Classic Iron, 10802 Patriot Hwy, Fredericksburg, VA 22408. Rain or shine, the Shred Day will occur regardless of the weather.
Community members are encouraged to bring their unwanted confidential documents – including banking statements, old tax return files, medical records, credit card receipts, etc. – to be shredded on-site. Machine paper, letterhead, white tablet paper, computer printout paper, laser print paper, and other miscellaneous white paper and staples are accepted. VHS tapes, CDs, and binders will not be accepted for shredding.
The cost of shredding will be $5/box of paper. These boxes can be standard copy paper boxes or banker’s boxes. Larger trash bags of paper will cost $8/bag. With the industry average currently charging $30/box for shredding, this Shred Day offers a cost-effective way to have large amounts of paper shredded securely.
All payments will be made at the event in the form of cash or check written out to The Betty J. Hunter Scholarship Fund. Additional donations will also be accepted at the event for the scholarship fund. All proceeds will go directly towards funding future community education projects in all surrounding counties.
“The purpose of our scholarship fund is to provide students the means necessary when entering or returning to school,” said Rochelle Bazemore-Fountain, founder of The Betty J. Hunter Scholarship Fund. “We welcome all of our surrounding neighbors to join us in this Shred Day to help us support more future community members in pursuing their educational dreams.”
Choosing to shred your confidential documents is a way for companies and homeowners alike to protect their information from potential risks of identity theft. Shred days are becoming more popular as a means of raising funds for nonprofits.
